How it works
The register you know, turned into a grid that adds itself up.
Scroll, and the paper sheet becomes the grid, then the chart. The same marks, three ways of reading them.
- The paper sheetTicks and crosses, one row per child: how most of us mark today.
- The gridThe same marks, tapped into Kaksha. One tap per answer, saved as you go.
- The chartThe grid adds itself up: which questions the class found hard, at a glance.

Live demo
Try it with an invented class.
This is the real app, running in your browser on made-up data: an invented school and 36 invented children. Your own classes are kept apart and are never touched.
The real app on made-up data. It opens full screen, so nothing scrolls under your thumb.
Click the phone to use it. It stays put while you do. Press Esc or Done to let go.
Open the demo in its own tab →Why it is built this way
Made for a classroom with no signal and one phone.
Three decisions shape everything else. Each one can be checked.

- Open it from your home screen. Your classes stay on this phone.

Is it really free?
Yes, for every teacher and educator. If we ever offer paid help to large networks, the app itself stays free.
Do you see my students' marks?
No. They never leave your phone unless you share a file yourself.
What if my phone is lost?
Your data is lost with it unless you have a backup. Make one every week or two and keep it somewhere other than the phone. Today reminds you.
Is this an official government or board tool?
No. It is an independent, open-source tool. The example tests are examples, not official curricula.
For schools and NGOs
Rolling it out across schools?
Kaksha is free for every teacher and educator, and will stay free. For networks that want more, write to us.
- Your own tests and rubricsBuilt in, so every teacher starts with the same templates.
- A language packMarathi, Bengali, Tamil or another, with your reviewers.
- Help rolling it outShort sessions for teachers, and a head-teacher view of combined backups.
Where it came from
Grew out of an assessment portal we designed for a classroom NGO in 2019.
That portal let teachers enter each child's answer and see the class by subject, skill and question. It needed a login, a server and a good connection. Kaksha keeps the parts teachers used most and drops what got in the way.
